Taniec nad przepaścią

Dyscyplina sportowa zwana highline niezmiennie mnie fascynuje. Połączenie ryzyka, oszałamiających plenerów i niesamowitych umiejętności – coś pięknego! Kimberly Weglin spróbowała ostatnio swoich sił nad wodospadami w Yosemite.

Jak przygotować się do TAKIEGO wyczynu? To ogrom pracy, wysiłku, ćwiczeń. Czasem wyglądają one całkiem niewinnie…

Morning slacking always gets my mind and body right, ready, and in sync for the day! Thanks @adventurejameson, @gokelleego, and @bocoyogichelle for teaching me shoulder stands and helping me fix my exposure! I'm so glad I came out to the @yogaslackers workshop at Wanderlust when you guys were passing through Sac. These days I seem to be highlining and longlining more so than just slacklining. Highlining always feels so serious (probably because it's scary as hell) and it was so fun to just slack again and get back to the basics with you guys. It really reminded me why I love this sport, and since that day I've been having a few highlining and longlining PR breakthroughs, too. Thanks for snapping me out of the funk I didn't even realize I was in.

Dopiero później, kiedy zawodnik jest w odpowiedniej kondycji fizycznej i psychicznej, może sobie pozwolić na dalszy krok. Krok w zawieszeniu.

Highline nad wodospadem to podwójne wyzwanie. Kimberly opowiada:

To niesamowite tam być. Około 860 tysięcy galonów wody na minutę spada, a otoczenie sprawia, że niezwykle trudno jest złapać równowagę i poruszać się do przodu. Mój ulubiony moment to zerknąć w dół i zobaczyć idealnie okrągłą tęczę pode mną – taką, której nie można zobaczyć z innych perspektyw. Nigdy nie widziałam czegoś podobnego!

Vernal Falls in Yosemite has finally been established! After 2 years of dreaming, multiple scouting trips, and a failed rigging attempt, we finally rigged this 420 ft line, the second longest in Yosemite, and the only waterfall line in Yosemite that is actually in front of the water, instead of over it. After all that work, we didn't even have it rigged for 24 hours before the Secret Service shut us down. Turns out Obama was in the valley and wanted to hike the Mist Trail. We were told we had to get this derigged NOW before the President comes up, or the Secret Service would cut our line, take our gear, and escort us out. You can bet that was the fastest de-rig in history. On the up side, we got to see and meet Obama and the first family because, ironically, we didn't get out of there fast enough 🙂 @barackobama @whitehouse No one sent, but we all sessioned the crap out of that line. Being that close to the water is one hell of an experience. Vernal is currently flowing at ~860,000 gallons per minute. Line specs: 420 ft long, ~150 ft high, all natural anchors (cams in a crack on one side and a tree, 20 ft around, on the other), double moonwalk (Thank you @garrison_rowland for helping us try to rig this line the first time and for letting us borrow your line while you're in Europe. We literally could not have done this without you. Wish you could have been there with us!) And thank you @meladapted and @blackrockseco for suffering with us on this mission.
